Many people only pay attention to one number when buying protein: How many grams of protein per serving are included.

But this often falls short.

Because for muscle building, it's not just the amount of protein that matters, but above all the quality of the protein. And one amino acid plays a crucial role in this: Leucine.


What is Leucine anyway?

Leucine is an essential amino acid and belongs to the so-called BCAAs.

Particularly important: Leucine activates muscle protein synthesis.

Simply put:

Leucine is the signal for your body to build new muscle mass.

Without enough leucine, this effect remains significantly weaker — even if you consume enough protein overall.


Why many proteins do not work optimally
